The Art of Letting Go – A constant practice

For a long time, I didn’t truly understand what it meant to let go. I thought letting go was about forgetting—pushing aside the things that weighed me down so I could move forward. But the more I explored breathwork and my own emotional and physical patterns, the more I realized letting go is not about forgetting or forcing yourself to move on.

Letting go is deeper than that. It’s about release, acceptance, and trust.

Letting go isn’t something that happens overnight, and it’s certainly not something you can force. For me, the process began when I learned to connect with my body. I discovered that what I was holding onto emotionally wasn’t just in my head—it was stored in my body.

Every unresolved feeling, every bit of tension, lived inside me, creating stress, blocking energy, and preventing me from feeling truly free.

We hold onto emotions, experiences, and beliefs because we think they define us. We believe that letting go might mean losing control or losing a part of ourselves. But what I’ve learned through breathwork and somatic practices is this: holding on doesn’t give us control. It traps us.

When we cling to fear, anger, or old stories about who we are, we create tension in our bodies and minds. This tension keeps us from welcoming new energy, new experiences, and new possibilities.

Letting go, on the other hand, creates space. It allows us to release what no longer serves us and invites in something new—whether that’s peace, clarity, or a deeper connection to ourselves and others. Letting go is about trusting that we don’t need to hold onto everything so tightly.

When we release, we aren’t losing anything. We’re making room for something better.

I remember the first time I truly experienced the art of letting go in my breathwork practice. I lay down, breathed deeply, and began noticing all the areas in my body where I held tension—my chest, my stomach, my shoulders.

As I continued breathing, emotions surfaced—old fears, frustrations, and memories I didn’t even realize I was carrying. And then, something magical happened: my body began to release.

I didn’t have to force it. I didn’t have to push anything away. All I had to do was give it space, and my body let go on its own.

Letting go is about more than releasing tension or old emotions—it’s about embracing flow.

It’s about accepting life as it is and cutting the energetic ties we’ve created with certain people, situations, or outcomes. Letting go doesn’t mean you can’t have preferences, but those preferences no longer come from a place of need or expectation. They become lighter and more fluid.

When we stop clinging to how things “should be,” something shifts. The universe has space to work its magic, and often, what flows in is better than anything we could have imagined.

Letting go has transformed how I approach life. I’ve learned it’s not about getting rid of something but about allowing things to flow.

When I stop trying to control everything—when I release my grip on the past and stop fearing the future—I move through life with more ease, more joy, and more presence.

I see the same transformation in my clients. Many of them come to me with a deep desire to let go of what’s holding them back, but they don’t know how. And that’s understandable—society teaches us to hold on, to stay in control, to never let go for fear of losing ourselves.

But when we create a safe space—through breathwork, movement, or meditation—the body remembers how to release. It knows how to let go of tension, emotions, and old patterns. All it needs is permission.

Letting go is an art—one that takes time, patience, and practice. But when you allow yourself to release what no longer serves you, you open the door to a life that feels lighter, more spacious, and more aligned with who you truly are.

Letting go isn’t about losing control—it’s about trusting the flow of life. It’s about knowing that by letting go, you’re creating space for something better.

Exercises to practice Letting Go

If you’re ready to explore the art of letting go, here are a few steps to help you begin:

1. Tune Into Your Body

Find a quiet space and take a few deep breaths. Bring your awareness to your body. Notice any areas where you’re holding tension—your chest, stomach, or shoulders. Don’t try to change anything yet; just notice.

2. Breathe Into the Tension

Once you’ve identified where you’re holding on, breathe into that space. Imagine your breath filling the area with light and warmth, softening the tension. With each exhale, allow yourself to release just a little bit more.

3. Practice Acceptance

Letting go doesn’t mean forcing something to happen. It’s about accepting what is. If emotions arise, allow them to exist without judgment. Trust they’re there for a reason and that by giving them space, you’re allowing them to move through you.

4. Visualize Cutting Energetic Ties

Close your eyes and visualize the people, situations, or outcomes you feel attached to as energetic ties or ropes connected to your body.

Imagine each tie as a different rope—some may be thin, others thick like a tree trunk. As you focus on each one, begin to visualize yourself cutting these ties. You might see yourself using scissors, a knife, or simply breathing through them until they dissolve.

With each tie you cut, feel your energy returning to you. Visualize your energy field becoming whole again, free from anything that was draining you. As you breathe, let the breath guide this process, intuitively supporting the motion of release.

This practice helps end energetic contracts that no longer serve you, creating space for new possibilities to flow into your life.

5. Trust the Process

Letting go is not something that happens instantly. It’s a practice that requires trust—trust in your body’s wisdom, trust in life’s flow, and trust that by letting go, you’re making room for something new.

Remember, letting go is a constant practice —an art that takes time, patience, and trust. Sometimes it’s easier sometimes it’s even frustrating. But each small step you take toward release brings you closer to a life that feels lighter, freer, and more aligned with who you truly are.

Imagine the possibilities that await when your energy is no longer tied up in what no longer serves you. When you let go, you make space—for clarity, for joy, for the magic of life to flow in.

If you’re ready to take that step, I’d love to guide you. Through breathwork and somatic practices, we’ll create a safe and supportive space for you to release, reset, and reconnect with yourself.

With Love,

JJ
